About AIST

Women in Super / Mother’s Day Classic

In 1994, the Conference of Major Superannuation Funds (now Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees) established Women in Super, a national network of women working in the superannuation and finance industries.

Women in Super (WIS) has now grown to an organisation with well over 1,000 members. Each participating State has a management committee representing each of the major sectors within the superannuation industry.

Women in Super has four prime objectives:

  • Voice the superannuation needs of women in the community and the industry to Government and politicians, those developing products and services to members of superannuation funds, to unions, employer organisations, trustees, the regulators and others of influence in the business community.
  • Provide education and training support to women in the industry and the community to increase their knowledge of superannuation.
  • Increase the number of women on trustee boards.
  • Provide women in the industry with an opportunity to develop broader business and personal networks.

The Mother’s Day Classic

Women in Super provides a forum for and to enhance the opportunities of working women, and through its work promoting charitable activities, the Mother's Day Classic was borne.

The Women in Super Mother's Day Classic is an annual fundraising event that has been held every Mother's Day since 1998, to raise awareness and research funding for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Since inception, the Mothers Day Classic has raised over $30 million for National Breast Cancer Research programs.

In addition to its pivotal role establishing both Women In Super and the Mother's Day Classic, Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (and formerly Conference of Major Superannuation Funds) has been a National Gold Sponsor of the event since 1998.

AIST is very proud of its continuing association with the Women In Super Mother's Day Classic and of all it has achieved since its inception.
